Jalapeño Cheddar Biscuits
Prep time: 15 minutes
Cook time: 12 minutes
Servings: 10–12 biscuits
Ingredients
2 cups flour
2 tbsp sugar
1 tbsp baking powder
1 tsp salt
1 stick (½ cup) butter, cold
¾ cup buttermilk
1 small can diced jalapeños (drained)
¾ cup shredded cheddar cheese
Instructions
Preheat oven to 425°F.
In a large bowl, combine the flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt.
Cut the butter into small pieces and work it into the dry mixture using a pastry cutter or your hands until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
Stir in the jalapeños and cheddar cheese.
Pour in the buttermilk and stir until a dough begins to form.
Turn the dough out onto a floured surface. Fold the dough, roll it out, then turn clockwise. Repeat this process 5–6 times.
Roll the dough out to about ¾ inch thickness.
Cut out biscuits using a round cutter or glass. Place onto a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
Bake for 12 minutes, or until biscuits are golden brown.
