Collard greens

Prep time: 15 minutes

Cook time: 45 minutes

Servings: 8

Ingredients:

  • 4 bundles of collard greens

  • 1 yellow onion

  • 12 oz bacon

  • 4 cups low sodium chicken broth

  • 2 tbs minced garlic

  • Tony Chachere’s to taste

  • 1 stick of butter

Instructions:

  1. Preheat skillet to medium heat.

  2. Dice bacon and add to skillet. Dice onion. When bacon is about half way done, add onion to skillet. Cook until bacon is done. Drain grease. Add minced garlic and cook for about a minute.

  3. Rinse collards. Cut stems off of collards and roughly chop. Add to skillet.

  4. Pour in chicken broth. Add butter. Bring to a boil. Reduce to a simmer and cover.

  5. After about 10 minutes, stir and season with Tony Chachere’s original seasoning. Continue to cook, stirring occasionally, until collards are tender.

  6. Remove from heat and enjoy!
